Were there any deaths as a result of the tsunami-triggering earthquake and not by the tsunami itself back in December?

BBC News 24 was reporting 'many hundreds' and 'a thousand' deaths as a result of this earthquake - with Oxfam getting thru to the worst hit town on motorbikes.
