Well, it was something new for me, anyway...
Last night was a laser run night, so I was on the summit most of the night. (Same as tonite, tomorrow, and the day after). Alas weather ruined the night- heavy icy fog prevented opening of the domes all night. So it was a night of waiting in vain for conditions to improve.
Late in the night I went out with a flashlight to see if the fog was clearing- it wasn't, so I turned off the flashlight to enjoy the view- I noticed something odd hanging in space at a distance that seemed to be a few hundred feet. It was a ghostly white glowing object forming a short arc. I looked at it confused, as my eyes adjusted to the dark I could see that it was forming a massive glowing semicircle hanging in midair... Then I realized what I was seeing... I walked a few meters away from the building towards the apparition and turned around 180 degrees- Sure enough the Moon was low in the sky. I was seeing a moon rainbow formed in the nearby fog bank. I had heard of these but never been lucky enough to actually see one. It was surreal... Too bad such things cant really be captured with a camera...
