April / 06/ 1965. 40 year later, what would we do without them?

The first commercial, TV capable geostationary comsat was launched into orbit 40 years ago today.
Known as Early Bird, it allowed North Americans to tune into such BBC favorites as "Coronation Street", and allowed the Europeans to watch
American TV shows, like "Man From UNCLE", "Batman" and other fine
TV fare provided by the Big Three American networks.

40 year later, it's become so blase that TV networks rarely post the caption, "Live by Satellite" anymore.
