OWL
Hi All
The ESO's OverWhelmingly Large telescope will be an incredible instrument - I've noted earlier that it will be able to spectrographically examine Earth-sized planets out to 10 pc, which is so cool.
Ultra-light weight telescopes are also being developed using inflatables and laser holographic correction. Huge optics could be set up on the Moon without the OWL's 12,500 ton mass. Maybe a few years away, but a very neat follow up to OWL in time.
By 2030 we will have maps of the nearest exo-Earths - if they exist.
Adam
