An interesting sidestory

Dr. William Hammesfahr was quoted extensively by the right wing media as having examined a bone scan of Ms, Schiavo and determined from that her husband abused her. Dr. Hammesfahr was the Schindler's expert witness at trial who disputed that Terri was in a persistent vegetative state. Well here is some rather interesting information about the "good doctor:"

William Hammesfahr

Doctor William Hammesfahr is a American neurologist who practices in the state of Florida. He has been the subject of public controversy. In 2003 the Florida Board of Medicine disciplined him, once again in relation to the treatment he claimed to have developed.

He has falsely claimed to be a Nobel Prize nominee both before and after the 2003 disciplinary action. The person who nominated Hammesfahr, (U.S. Representative Michael Bilirakis (R-FL)) was not eligible to do so. On March 21, 2005, he was billed as such eight times by Sean Hannity (and confirmed it to Hannity once), and four times by Joe Scarborough, on interviews regarding Terri Schiavo during the courses of their respective shows on Fox News and MSNBC. According to the Nobel Foundation, nominations are required to be kept secret for 50 years, so Dr. Hammesfahr would not know if he was nominated for one unless he had won. It should also be noted that Dr. Hammesfahr has never had any articles published in any peer reviewed medical journals.

People like Sean Hannity and Joe Scarborough should be ashamed of themselves, as should the parents.
