Another government Whoops! we were wrong
This time it's the falacious Body Mass Index and the ludicrously high previous CDC estimates of annual deaths from being overweight. Well, they were promoted as facts but actually were 'estimates'. But these prior estimates were only off by a factor of more than 10x so suddenly obesity is no longer a contender for the #1 cause of death. So, a leading cause of death in the US has just been demoted Viola! by administrative fiat! Maybe it was another one of those famous "computer models" we always hear touted.
