The revolution in astronomy spreads
Gemini North has started testing its new laser on the sky.
The laser allows telescopes on the ground to increase the area of the sky they can use adaptive optics on by nearly two orders of magnitude. All large telescopes will have a laser, or several lasers. The VLT will have one, as will Gemini south (5 seperate beams), and Subaru has plans for a laser as well.
The future is looking bright!
