re: Howard, Bush, and Blair. Coalition Hat Trick.

Well - I'm dissapointed that the Labour Party won here - but it was to be expected. They had a huge majority of seats in the Commons - and that majority has taken one hell of a beating from one of about 240 (out of 646) to 157.

The problem we have here is that the opposition is split into two parties - Conservative and Liberal Democrat. Between them, they took 55.8% of the vote compared to the reigning labour party's 36.3%

Turn out was poor - about 60%.

But as with the US and Australia - when it comes down to an election, clearly the war doesnt factor that much into peoples choices - things such as tax/education/crime etc are more important.

As for the seat where I live ( Leicester South ) - despite what the BBC website will tell you, it was, amazingly, a Labour win from the Lib.Dems. Given that Leicester has one of the highest asian communities in the country - I'm amazed that all three city seats remain Labour.

But - and I KNOW that this is what you will TRY and make this result out to mean Tom - because Labour have been voted back in does NOT mean that the British people support the war in Iraq - infact the losses the Labour Party had last night suggest quite the opposite.
