I'm about to get a real nice broadband connection!
I have one guy trying to sell me 3 used Cisco 2621 routers (one for an internet T-1 connection, and the other two to connect each end of a Point-to-Point T-1).
And another guy telling me he would never sell a customer equipment that hasn't been sold by Cisco in over 2 years...He wants to sell me a brand new Cisco 2811 router and a 1811 Router configured so that will accomplish the same thing.
The guy peddling the used equipment said that the new 2811 and 1811 Routers are very weak in supporting a network running VOIP connections...(Funny, because we aren't running any VOIP connections at the current time). The guy peddling the new equipment says the other guy is full of S@&T.
The funniest thing is that the guy selling the used equipment, wants to do so at a price that is only $150.00 less that the guy selling the new equipment (Assuming that installation costs are equall--A BIG ASSUMPTION). But he tells me that his configuration will actually be more Robust than the new equipment and somehow he is able to offer me a 5-YEAR warranty. On used equipment none-the-less!
Have any of you got an experience in this area? The cut over is in mid-June so I have time to make up my mind. I'm definitly leaning toward the new equipment: fewer components should be easier to manage, plus Cisco should offer a better warranty...no mater what the clown selling the used equipment tells me. I think the VOIP argument was a flat out lie designed to muddy the water.
Anybody got any comments or ideas?
Ain't technology fun!
Has anybody here ever done a T-1 cut-over
