In the case of Exxon, it probably does leave you out. Their CEO is a particular Luddite when it comes to the role of petroleum in the world economy. He's on record not only as saying that global warming is a hoax (not just uncertain, he has endoresed the view that "government funded" scientists are conciously lying about it), but also predicts that fossil-fuel powered internal-combustion engines will still the the primary mode of transportation power in the year 2100. Thinks hydrogen, fuel cells, biofuels, etc are just bunk.
