Unless, for example, nuclear might be used to synthesize hydrogen peroxide as a motor vehicle fuel oxidizer. Not sure how much better it would be compared to compressed hydrogen, but at least it is a liquid and easy to store. It might be used in a bipropellant hybrid car. The hydogen peroxide (oxidizer) would enhance the combustion of bioethanol (fuel) in an efficient turbine powerplant used to charge batteries, which in turn power the electric motors on each wheel of a car with regenerative braking capability. Hydrogen peroxide is made with electricity, air, and water. Its dissociation reaction produces oxygen and water - really clean and environmentally friendly. Drawbacks: dangerously explosive, despite modest specific energy; reacts vigorously with most carbon-based materials.
That's just a maybe. Doesn't mean it should be.

Nuclear will only replace coal and natural gas, not oil.
