I am not so sure time travel is possible, and I like to think that anything is possible; you just have to find the way.
As you know, the Earth and everything on it is made of atoms. Every atom on the Earth takes its own path as the Earth orbits the Sun, the Sun orbits the center of the galaxy, and the galaxy speeds through space.
The ‘present’ would be the head of the path. The past would be any point behind the head, on that path.
The only way I see to go back in time is to move every atom back to a certain point on their respectful path; at a point representing a certain point in time. If you had the knowledge and power to do this, you could recreate the past, but you wouldn’t be going back in time. You would also have to destroy the present to rebuild the past. If you had this kind of power, you could use some lifeless planet, and match, one on one, its atoms with Earth’s atoms, but that is another story.
