the average garden-variety beancounter knows the price of everything and the value of nothing ..

How much $ is really involved in keeping the Voyager project going? What percentage is that of GDP, or of the NASA budget for that matter?

How soon before we could ever sent anything out that far again? New Horizons will only reach Pluto 2015 at the earliest

Something really is weird about all this, as the article implies.
