Somehow, Arabs end up doing better than most folks when immigrating to the US. Contrast this with their pathetic outlook in "Arab" countries. Says something about the people vs the culture. Given opportunity, which abounds in the US, Arab immigrants thrive. Proof that wraping your head with old tablecoverings is not detrimental to success! Unfortunately, Arabs are not having anything like the same success in Europe. Again, it's either the water or the culture.

This census data should prompt soul-searching in many quarters. Cultural determinists may want to revise their theories of Arab backwardness. Arab leaders should be ashamed when they see their emigrants prospering in the United States while their own people are miserable. And Europe should wake up to the possibility that it may have less of an “Arab problem” than a “European problem.”
