Always so sad that the few times certain members of the public pick up on some science event that they have to warp it in such a manner as to further diseducate the rest of the public.

In 1910 there was panic when scientists said that the tail of Comet Halley, which Earth was to pass through that year, contained cyanide.

The fact so many of them seemed to miss is that it was such a small amount spread out over millions of miles of space that it would have no effect on any living thing on Earth whatsoever, except for those humans who decided that it would affect them.

Obviously we have learned little in 95 years.
