Michael Schiavo, her legal guardian, was not a "court appointed executioner." He was her husband and was in the best position to know what her wishes were.
The history here is really quite compelling. In the years following her collapse, Michael Schiavo attempted to find any remedy that might brrring her back. He actually took her across the continent in search of state-of-the-art treatment and therapy. Nothing worked.
It was only after his mother died following a prolonged illness did reality begin to sink in. He sought an education and degree in nursing (an atypical career for a male) to learn more about what was really happening to Terri. Finally, years after her collapse he realized that she was never coming back..that no treatment would change her condition...that Terri, the person, no longer existed. It was only then that he petitioned to court to only her feeding tube to be removed.
This is a side of the man the parents won't talk about because it doesn't serve their agenda. Michael, himself, is quiet and reclusive - not one to take to the media spotlight to defend himself and discuss his personal tragedy. He's actually a pretty decent human being, burdened by one of the most difficult choices a loved one must make.
Many of us posting here, will someday be facing precisely the very same choice as Michael Schiavo. It happens hundreds of times every day in this country, usually without fanfare or editorial comment by Ann Coulter. This was, first and foremost, a private family tragedy. It should have stayed that way.
