You're absolutely right! Unfortunately a totalitarian/authoritarian political system and NOT opening the space frontier DO mix.

Can we open the space frontier before the world loses its freedom? Who can say? My guess is its a race between resource depletion versus intelligent long term planning. Are people smart enough to plan ahead into the next 20 years? You tell me.
