I'm a huge F1 fan, and particularly of BAR, Button, and Renault.
I must admit - Michelin SERIOUSLY dropped the ball - turning up with tyres that couldnt handle T13 - just.>AHRHGHGHHGHGHGHG. Great fodder for people who hate the French ( no shortage of those in the US ) After finding out that the tyre was unsafe courtesy of Ralf Schumachers crash on Friday and testing back at the facility over Friday and Sat - they had no choice but to ask for a temporary chicane or simply pull out. Sadly - given that Modern F1 is a power-struggle between FIA/Ferrari and the other 9 teams, a solution was never going to be found. And thus we got what we got - 10 teams taking to the grid, 7 of which pulled out on the pace-lap. (so they still got their appearence money etc)
However - I have to say, the actions of some of the attending fans was disgusting - two BAR mechanics were assaulted, and the fans threw beer cans, water bottles etc onto the track - Ruben Barrichello hit one with his F2005 - could have been a major incident.
Truth be told - I hope this is the end of F1 at Indy - the F1 circuit they've built is, to be honest, crap. Why the shoehorned something into the infield when there's Elkhart Lake, Mid Ohio, Watkins Glen, Laguna Seca etc etc..aghahhg
