Urban Dictionary not just wrong, appears they were just blowing smoke

I found this recipe for Medieval Mustard and it seems that the mustard goes from mustard seeds to the finished product without any fermentation that would create the crust they described.

It is not hard to imagine that mustard would film over, if left in an open container but not to the extent of requiring a special knife to remove it.
