A rhetorical question, but if anyone has an answer, I'd love to hear it.
Fashion dictates a formal introduction. So...
Hello, all you happy people! I am your new moderator.
Not that there's much on Off Topic that needs moderating, except for the occasional Insult Festival.
As far as I can see, anything can be posted at Off Topic short of the illegal. Here be dragons. Some things may find more appreciative audiences on other, more focused boards, but that will be more up to the individual poster rather than to me. (I reserve the option of keeping OT from turning into CE Jr., especially during an election year.) I will of course attempt to move things at the request of the poster, but I'm just learning, so please bear with me.
Robert has given excellent directions, though. He can write with great simplicity when the spirit moves him, which is good because simplicity is what I need when it comes to technical directions. [To open door: 1. Find door. 2. Locate keyhole. 3. Retrieve key.]
Also, I have every intention of finding interesting things to provoke (and I use that word in its kinder, gentler sense) discussion, though the things I think are interesting often have more to do with children and teens. I will do my best to keep this from becoming the Youth Services board, but you will have to keep me in line.
In that spirit, any contributions in the line of humor, art, history, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, and so on, will be appreciated.
On those uncommon occasions when I'm compelled to act as moderator, I'll say so. Otherwise, I'll just be shooting my mouth off as usual.
Thenk yew for your kind attention.
How moderate does a moderator have to be?
