Stupidity is stupidity. Hate is used to acquire power and manipulate folks. Someone just has to stop by the HZ and say "I hate Space" or "Space is a waste of effort" and they will get an earful. They targeted an audience who would provide them with the desired reactionary response. Plumer (circa 1998) used to do that all the time and could count on the reactions he would get from pro-science folks when he cut-n-pasted his anti-evolution creationist manifesto on the MSNBC boards.
These folks are no different. They are driven by something they are off equilibrium on. Looking at the pictures, they themselves look like reverse polarities - which would explain their emotional commitment to the issue. In simpler terms, the hungry speak of bread.
Hate feeds on hatred. Bowser pointed this out in the neo-Nazi thread. Look at the emotional response generated by Tony's post. Folks tune-in on off-equilibrium folks and hatred acts as a carrier wave. In this sense one must discern what one views, watches or places ones thoughts upon. Few here would walk into the middle of a hate march. It would be counter-productive and one knows one can't change others minds or "fix" their thinking. Yet here the hate march is brought to us via imagery. We see the faces contorted with hatred and depending upon our own past experiences we react with varying degrees of emotion.
I have never seen anyone escape feedback. At no point do actions cease having reactions. These folks don't need our contempt, hatred or scorn. It will do nothing to help them and most importantly, our hatred harms us.
Ignorance is pervasive on this planet. Religion is one of the staples of organized ignorance and can be twisted by folks to support and justify the most horrendous actions and hatred.
At a certain point one loses the emotional response to the "hate trap" - one can see and observe all sorts of ignorant actions and not be emotionalized by them.
Wishing harm to these folks is exactly the same thing they wish upon others. Watching the thread evolve here it is interesting to see the signal and its influence.
Yes hate is broadcast like a radio wave. It generate reactions when it harmonizes with other waves and signals. A person broadcasting hate will get hate feedback...and not just in equal quantiy, but the signal will have regenerated to varying degrees making the repercussions that much more drastic.
"Yoda" would say that hate is the dark side of the force and good can never succumb to hatred.
When confronted by ignorance and hatred, replace that hate signal with compassion. Not sympathy - compassion. Understand their predicament. Understand that folks have serious hang ups and hang around folks that exploit their ignorance and lead them into hatred. Do not let that hate signal find its match within one's own consciousness. Or if it does - realize that this hate has found a compatible waveform and render it harmless with wisdom.
Each experience presents us with an opportunity to become more good...more positive and eventually hate has nothing to cling to.
