A failure in leadership
Here we are in the midst of a war in which thousands of U.S. soldiers are being killed and maimed and all Mr. Bush can offer is rhetorical pablum. His insincere and insecure expression of sympathy for the famillies of those lost in a war based upon an utterly failed intelligence exposed him as the the empty suit he truly is.
Of course, the real failure here is that his opportunity to rally Americans to the "cause" tanked miserably. That's because most Americans no longer trust a President who takes us to War and invades a country on the basis of claims about WMDs that simply were not true. In this context, his vapid appeals to 9/11 are self-serving and dishonest.
