Why do you think advanced species in the galaxy will have nothing to do with us?
They've picked up our century's worth of TV and radio signals spewing into the galaxy, and that was enough for them.
I had an anthropology class in college (which makes me an anthropologist, of course - thanks, Tom Cruise!) and the professor said that one learns far more about a society from examining their garbage than any official documents or monuments. Nuff said.
