To discern whether Saddam was in bed with the likes of bin Laden, one would need to do some research well beyond what passes for informative news these days. Most folks have neither the inclination or the time and this is why the sound-byte is king.

Put simply, from 1991 on, Saddam was not America's friend and would do whatever he could to strike at America and her interests.
