When the Hubble Space Telescope had launched, my local radio station's idea of news kept calling it the Hubble Space *Microscope*. No, you can't make these things up. And they said it twice that I heard.
I called the station and got some teenage-sounding intern who didn't seem quite sure I was correct, but would tell the news people anyway. Thankfully by their next news installment they were calling it a Telescope.
So call them and give them a lesson in science. That reporting was not only wrong, it was potentially damaging by frightening a larger group of people than I care to think about.
You know if this were some political comment, the switchboard would have lit up like the proverbial menorah tree.
Space/Science » in reply to No link but she did say it.
Did you call the station to correct her?
