I've heard about enough...
Of things like this, and of the constantly-repeated refrain, "a registered sex offender is being held in this new crime..."
I think it's time we stop registering them, and keep them in jail. Fifty years ago people like this would have fried.
Try out a few phrases:
"Registered murderer."
"Registered bank robber."
"Registered arsonist."
Doesn't work very well, does it? Neither should the other one.
