Well? It looks like a "go' for the Russian Phobos-Grunt martian moon sample return mission.
I got some info on the mission objectives for Phobos-Grunt on the Deccan Herald newspaper website.
Launch of the Phobos-Grunt mission is slated for October/2009.
Samples of the moon, Phobos, will be returned to Earth no sooner than 2012 if all goes well..
By a remarkable coincidence, the launch period will be around the 50th anniversary of the launch of Luna 3 [first spacecraft to image the farside of the moon].
An interesting mission, don't you think?
Russia may be on the verge of making a modest comeback in the field of interplanetary exploration.
Cheers.
Jake
