Space/Science » in reply to Enceladus

A small world with big world geology.

Remember that Enceladus is a small moon. Here is how it compares to our own Moon. Its has a 505-kilometer (314-mile) and it could fit in the borders of Texas. – (Texas is almost 800 miles across and 900 miles tall)

Yet this tiny moon has the geology of a much larger world. I suspect it is a large drop of water with a tough outer crust. It has been kept liquid by gravitational heating. It must have started out a much bigger ball of water and has slowly lost material over time, due to its water escaping to space.

Great pictures!
