There are damn few people out there who still think Rove is in any kind of legal trouble. You might have noticed the subtle shift in the past week to a "Rove is not the kind of person Bush should have in his administration" line.
Notice the Left scrambling in all directions. Notice the dumping of older accusations and examples of how nasty Rove is. Notice that Cooper's Big Newsweek Story fell flat. Notice that pundits are dissecting and parsing statements, trying to fit them into the "Evil Rove" agenda.
It's all pretty much devolved to "Rove is a bad man!" now. They've got nothing else. Frank Rich and others are furious that they wound up scraping themselves off the bricks yet again.
And most of all, notice that the Democratic Party no longer has any obvious purpose other than an Ahab/Javert obsession with the destruction of the Bush administration. There'll be something else next week. For starters, look for a brand new set of Abu Ghraib photos. Hey, maybe they can switch back to demanding Rumsfeld's resignation again!

Face it, Donald, the Democrats hit the wall face first again.
