Question my is:
Could the Death Star have successfully destroyed a Jovian world such as the one that Yavin IV was orbiting? Why did the DS even need to come in on the same orbital plane as the Rebel moon? Why not above or below and avoid the giant planet altogether? Why doesn't Hollywood get the fact that space is 3-dimensional?
Wasn't the reason Leia didn't transmit the data across interstellar space was because the Rebels were rightly concerned about interception of the vital info by the Empire? And while she did say that Vader et. al. had purposely let them go when Luke et. al. escaped from the DS, did she actually know they had a tracking device on the MF?
I've got my plastic light saber with the flashing bulb and Obi Wan pocket protector ready!
By the way, anyone ever see the film Clerks? I loved the Star Wars discussion scene.
