What those guys did was incredibly dangerous
It was bad enough they were digging through old munitions that included a cluster bomb submunition (those are beyond dangerous). How did they know the weapons cache wasn't booby trapped? The guys pulling out those explosives were incredibly courageous. If it was up to me, I would have cleared out everyone nearby and then destroyed all of the explosives in-place as a controlled explosion. I guess the weapon's cache was too near Mosul for that to be an option.
