Chipping their fingernails
Did you ever read (or remember) what questions the press asked Sally Ride about her being the first American woman going into space back in 1982? The one that stood out was from the reporter asking if she had a problem she couldn't handle on the Shuttle would she essentially go crying to one of the male astronauts for help. Ride tactfully asked why the male members of her crew didn't get these questions. And this was in 1982 America, not 1882 or even 1962.
