The 'random' bad searchings at entries to the NYC subway. No, we do not allow use of our most powerful weapon, the human mind's analysis of suspicious behaviour or circumstances. Instead, too PC frightened to act in survival mode, we instead randomize the search of persons and worst yet, we allow those who do not wish to be searched to turn around and leave. We spend millions to do this utterly ineffective measure. Any raghead with an ounce of sense (like the 1st London bombers, maybe not the 2nd group) were they somehow 'selected' for search would just turn around and leave, only to re-enter the system at a different station or time. Instead of using the most effective Israeli method of behavioural profile we are PCed into searching via random #s. This is innefective, wasteful, and gives a false sense of security to the stupid. I'll forgo a more complex Bayesian probability analysis and instead illustrate the following simplistic example. Terrorist apologists love to say that maybe they're gonna use grandmothers or white, business suited bombers next time. Not that we've seen many of those eager to get 72 virgins, but I accept this as a rational future possibility for some minority of jihadists. Let's assume, say 20%, of bombers will fit some previously unexpected profile. Then in simplistic terms we should target 20% of blonds with big tits, grandmothers, whatever, yet still target 80% of those who fit the currently known profiles. That would be an effective search strategy. And if we're gonna do this, just like with drunk driving roadblocks, the police should consider going after those who turn away from searches. Some of that % could be terrorists with brains.

Why spend a fortune in hard earned taxpayer's assets on programs that are simply designed to give the illusion that something is being done just so that pols can appear to be doing something? If we don't do something along the lines I suggest, then we should save the tax money for other more effective security measures or at least save the money so that taxpayers could pay for funerals and hospital bills for their families dismembered by terrorists uninhibited in their goals.
