The entire shuttle program is on life support.
And because of that the entire station project is on life support.
Get used to this.
We'll be in this mode until a replacement for the shuttle is developed and operational. (At the rate NASA works, this will be 10+ years)
Our only real hope is that the US Military has a system in the works and leapfrogs NASA, and then donates the program (or elements of it) to NASA.
