re: One loud boom was enough for my lifetime, thanks.

For over ten years, I lived just south of part of the Red River (TX/OK) valley that the Air Force used to teach valley flying. We got a few booms per day. And I grew up, and later spent ten more years, near Webb AFB in Big Spring, Texas. So I've been familiar with sonic booms as well as other explosive noises most of my life.

I was standing in my driveway in North Texas (actually loading my truck) when Challenger blew up. Saw something and heard and felt the explosion, even though it was only later that I found out what it had been. And I don't ever want to hear that again.
