Had a roommate once with a young son. The boy's uncle bought the kid a toy Hummer car for his birthday, and proudly announced he'd given him his first hummer. Dead silence.

A few years back I was driving around in Las Vegas with my father and stepmother, Dad driving, stepmom in the passenger's seat, me at the back. My stepmom spotted a billboard advertising a performance by some singer with the first name "Peter" (I dunno, it was Vegas, where entertainers go to die), and she chirps brightly "Oh, I just love Peter!". I looked in the rearview mirror and locked eyes with my Dad, both of us near apoplectic between the urge to laugh and fear of death...we chose to live to laugh another day and just kept quiet.

Many more years ago I was product manager and my boss decided to name one of my products the Remote Initial Program Load Field Upgrade Kit. People really ought to know by now to sound out names to check the acronyms they form, soze you don't find yourself proudly announcing the introduction of your new and improved RIPLFUK.
