You may have heard of the sponsorship scandal involving huge sums of canadian tax money being granted to various dubious causes in Quebec. The CSA is another one, it's located in Quebec, like alot of other high-tech, high-profile, national-image-type industries. Quebec props up the high-tech sector like no other province, using federal tax transfers from other provinces. If they separate from Canada they lose all that money. The Canadian Space Agency would also have to be relocated out of Quebec. But no matter how much money our stupid politicians give them they will always consider themselves to be a distinct society within Canada, like all the other minority groups. They don't want to be Canadian, they want to be [insert ethnicity] in Canada. Most don't even bother to speak [or even learn] one of the official languages. But they will take our tax money, and find ways to get more.

The Canadian Space Agency is one way for tax money to be funnelled to Quebec
