"A year ago, the U.S. Amry Corps of Engineers proposed to study how New Orleans could be protected from a catastrophic hurricane, but the Bush administration ordered that the research not be undertaken."
Yeah right...If only that study were undertaken...Blumenthal believes that studies save lives! Nevermind that a Corps of Engineers study would take sevral years to complete. So even if it were undertaken, it wouldn't be complete yet.
Then this claim that wetlands would have saved New Orleans...That is really funny...I've never heard anything like that before. Where does this guy pull this stuff from? Nevermind...I don't really want to know. I've heard sand Dunes can be used to break storm surge to a small degree, but wetlands?
Isn't New Orleans' problem that it is already surrounded by water? So more water logged areas (wetlands) surrounding the city would have helped exactly how???
And lets not forget that the levies survived the initial storm surge...They broke after the pumping systems failed and they became to waterlogged to hold back the water.
Incredible. Does Blumenthal actually believe what he writes? Oh and then there is the shrill attack Bush bull-crap. Even the standard slight against Halliburtibon and Dick Cheney is thrown in.
Blumenthal is a hack. I fully expect him to report that if only the Supreme Court didn't steal the election from Al Gore then there wouldn't have been a New Orleans disaster. He came close with this piece of toilet paper.

Complete distortion...
