Space/Science » in reply to Energy of a Hurricane compared to a 1 megaton bomb

The ordinary sunlight that falls on an ordinary city on an ordinary day

delivers MORE energy than a 1 megaton nuke. However, it arrives slowly and gently, so there is not disaster. If it arrived in one second, it would wipe the city off the map.

It is PEAK power (energy/time) that counts, not total energy.
