ripple effect
From a private sports board:
Offensive tackle Larry Brewer of Slidell was one of the few south Louisiana residents that escaped the wrath of Hurricane Katrina relatively unscathed. Before the storm hit, the Brewer family evacuated to Texas, so they suffered no physical injury. There was only minor damage to their home. And their power is already back on. So when Brewer compares his loses to those of others, he feels blessed.
For Brewer, the damage Katrina caused is to his football career. The 6-6, 300-pound lineman was planning to use his senior season to earn some bigtime scholarship offers. To help them decide whether or not they would offer him a scholarship, schools such as Alabama, LSU and Baylor had asked Brewer to send early season game footage.
The problem is that Brewer might not even have a senior season.
Lots of kids will be in this quandry.
While this is unimportant in the greater scheme, it is an example of periipheral damage and how the future can be altered.
