Asteroid Itokawa was once a tiny point of light in a telescope...No more.

The Japanese Hayabusa [Muses C] spacecraft
has now imaged the peanut-shaped asteroid,
once a tiny point of light in a telescope, revealing
details such as craters.
Hayabusa is now less than 47 kilometers from the asteroid.
Japan is now the SECOND NATION to successfully send a space
probe to within 100 kilometers of an asteroid....Even ESA
and Russia havve not achieved such a feat yet.

One thing though, I would ned Doug's expertise in the matter,
but it appears Hayabusa's imaging system is inferior to
JPL, ESA or even Soviet/Russian unmanned spacecraft imaging systems.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Doug.

I know someone with 20/20 vision is able to resolve as small as 1.5 arc seconds
with their naked eye. How small an object can Hayabusa's camera resolve?
