I didn't say I would prefer a world without the US in WWII.

What I said is that things are not nearly as clearcut some of us think. A nation is made up of all of its citizens, and all of their stories.

The ones that we don't hear have effects too. Those effects are concealed, and therefore complex.

Also, to mirror a conversation I've had with someone else recently, sometimes presentation makes all the difference. That wasn't really on my mind when I wrote what I did, but you brought it up, and it's very true. If someone spit in my face before he began to speak, I would leave. I would not wait to hear whether his words are worthwhile.

While I'm sitting here, I'm listening to an audio essay about Hugo Black, the Supreme Court Justice who pointed out that, where opinions clash, that's where democracy is, but that the clash must be respectful.

I have not not read from the links. I would be less than honest if I didn't admit that their presentation has an effect on whether I want to spend a lot of time at a particular site. Life is short.
