SCOTUS Hearings - a plea
Explain something to this limey.
What exactly prevents a nominee from saying what he/she believes, whether it be about abortion rights, death penalty or the legality of trading baseball cards?
I keep hearing "can't prejudge cases", but I can't help but see that as baloney.
Should Stevens recuse himself from all death penalty cases after his speech a few weeks ago?
Should Scalia do likewise on abortion or assisted suicide cases?
It makes no sense to me.
Your help is appreciated.....
