I've been reading my recently acquired copy of Planetary Interiors by Hubbard, an outdated (1984) but still fundamentally sound text. According to the theory of taking solar composition material and cooling it, Olivine-like minerals are expected and are often found in meteorites. It may be that they weren't expected in this "comet".
