You guys have BOTH missed the point.

Nobody in his right mind thinks being a Muslim automatically makes you a terrorist, or that you can tell a Muslim just by looking at him. We are all in agreement on that, aren't we? If I were a terrorist mastermind, I would pick a soldier that looked Caucasian, and dress him in western clothes to more easily penetrate security screeners. Chechnya and the 'Stans have a lot of people that would fit the bill. Ask anybody who's actually been there and he'll tell you how many blue-eyed, fair-skinned Afghanis there are.

The point I was trying to make is that someone went to the trouble of writing this rubbish and targeting it to people who DO believe that nonsense, and he expects them to pass it on to their friends who think just like them. They used a form of cherry-picking the data so blatant, an argument so flawed, that it should be obvious even to the most rabid anti-Muslim bigot how lame it is. Its like saying all gangsters are Italians, and then publishing a list of convicted Mafiosi that "proves" it.

The propagandist is targeting an audience, and the target demographic is carefully defined. It is an audience that has been calculated, and expected, to find this message plausible, and then get angry enough to do something about it, like vote (or not vote) for somebody, or get involved politically.

But most of all, I'm making the point that whoever is deliberately mass-producing and broadcasting this toxic racist agitprop (and that's what it is, have no doubt about it, this ain't grass roots, spontaneous hate) actually believes his intended audience is so stupid and so mean that they'll actually swallow it whole. The propagandists may not even have anything against Muslims, but they certainly have no respect for the people they are writing to. They are writing for those they believe are so dimwitted and thuggish that they can be provoked to exhibit a predictable, desired reaction. They're showing their intended audience less respect, and more contempt, than they're showing the Muslims.
