re: hunting for meteorites
It's a lot easier to spot a meteorite on a large flat and clear surface (sand or snow or ice) than in a wood or a city!
And if a meteorite can be collected immediately after it lands on earth, then it keeps most of its signature intact. I know a meteorite hunter who after hearing about one crossing the sky is going after all possible information to be able to find where it crashed. It's a serious hobby!
Maybe there's one that would reveal a lot more than the others. This one in Canada was such a case.
