A cheap superportable computer is what everyone wants anyway
I have a 6-year old desktop pc that I probably couldn't sell for much more than $100 bucks, but it'll do everything, high speed internet, word processing, spreadsheet, databases, programming, image and sound editing. Everything except run the newest games. But you won't find a brand new machine with similar capabilities for $100 at a local computer store. The price for a new pc is always between $1000 - $2000. Why? Because they're faster. That's all.
