Partial Solar Eclipse

Several friends did travel to Spain to witness the annular solar eclipse but I decided to stay near home and witness it with a school as a partial one !
I woke up very early, took the car past Brussels (to avoid the traffic jams in the morning), saw Mars, the Pleiades, the Hyades and Aldebaran from a service station where I also took my breakfast (20 seconds exposure) .

Later, I joined friends from the Ottignies astronomy Club to animate an entire morning with our telescopes (with filters) and showing the partial solar eclipse. There were no sunspots...
Many pupils showed up (about 80 I believe)...
At one point, clouds covered the event so I was asked to give a lecture about the solar system and what eclipses are...
When the sun came back, we rushed back to our telescopes and I was very pleased by the success of the PST (we could see CME's-one was going to be hidden by the Moon). But I didn't dare take pictures from it (not enough confidence in the results) And finally I could have a look through it.

It's the first eclipse when so many could see not only the Moon's shadow advancing across the Sun, but also dynamic activity on the Sun itself, even though there were no sunspots.
Some were fussying about the chill, but many were very interested!
It was great!
