I've only skoffed at the "poor dying people" when they demanded that those of us who work and pay taxes should pay to return them and their rundown neighborhoods back to their former miserable glory.

the fact I was pointing out through hyperbole was that rebuilding New Orleans exactly as it was will be a terrible mistake...No..."Mistake" is to mild: It will be a horrific blunder...A blunder because New Orleans will be destroyed again in the future and your pityful poor people will again be victimized by Mean Old Mother Nature.

It would be far wiser, and about half as expensive, to give each of the dislocated people (every man woman and child) a check for $250,000.00 cash than to give that money to the Federal and State Governmental Agencies that will "rebuild" New Orleans.

Then they could choose to retire back to the City of New Orleans if they wished, or else they could buy a very nice life in your neighborhood.

All this "charity", "pity", "sorrow", and "kindness" will do nothing but prolong and extend the suffering of those "poor" people.
