Well - he does. If I can give £5 to charity today, that's nice. If I sign that money away as an investment and then in a few years I can give £100 to charity instead - that's a good thing - I come out like a hero having given so much to charity. It doesnt matter what's being done with the money - there is still a moral question about the investment. Well done, what a nice man, lots of money to charity. But a guy holds up a bank and gives 2/3rds the fund to charity....he stil held up a bank :)

And of course, I'm sure his annual tax return wont benefit from giving $XM to charity :)
